Not every visit needs to be in-person. Clinit supports video consultations integrated directly into the appointment and billing workflow — no separate app, no third-party platform.
The Telehealth Opportunity in Egypt
Egypt's telehealth regulations have evolved — the COVID-19 period accelerated both regulatory clarity and patient acceptance. Today, teleconsultation is well-suited for:
- Follow-up visits for stable chronic disease patients (DM review, HTN check, psychiatric medication review)
- Prescription renewals when no physical examination is needed
- Test result discussions where the doctor needs to explain findings and adjust management
- Post-procedure check-ins (e.g., 48-hour post-surgical check where physical examination is not required)
- Second opinions from specialists not physically accessible to the patient
It is not appropriate for first presentations of symptoms requiring examination, emergency situations, or procedures.
How Clinit's Video Consultation Works
Booking:
Appointments can be designated as "Video" at the time of booking — by the reception team or by the patient during self-booking. The appointment type is labelled clearly in the calendar.
Pre-Consultation:
The patient receives a WhatsApp notification 15 minutes before the appointment with a one-tap video link. No app download required — the video runs in the patient's browser.
In Consultation:
The doctor opens the session screen as normal — all the patient's history, medications, and previous notes are visible. The video stream runs in a panel alongside the session tab. The doctor can take notes, write a prescription, and generate a summary during the call.
Billing:
Video consultations are billed like any other appointment. The patient can pay via Paymob directly from the WhatsApp message or patient portal before or after the call.
Prescription Rules for Teleconsultation
Egyptian medical regulations restrict certain drug classes from teleconsultation prescription (controlled substances, high-risk injectables). Clinit's prescription module flags these restrictions when the session type is "Video" — preventing inadvertent non-compliant prescribing.
